Without struggle and change, there is no progress. Our country was founded because people wanted to be progressive and free and we must always be aware that change is one of the few constants in this world. The United States is the “… government of the people, by the people, for the people, [and] shall not perish from the earth.” as Lincoln so eloquently declared in the Gettysburg Address. But alas the government that our fine founders established is no longer truly run by the people and for the good of the people. It is controlled by the wealthy and by politicians who wish to remain in power who, understandably, fear being challenged and to a degree overthrown. We need to go back to our roots as a country, not in our conservative or religious mindsets, but in our true classical ethical beliefs and streamline systems. Any knowledgeable and noble politician knows this bill is clearly against our Bill of Rights and understands that for our country to be just we must allow the people to gather and voice opinions and create the changes we wish to see. If this right to peacefully gather or protest is taken from the people, we are but a stagnant and hypocritical “democracy”.
